Planning the work
Start with the result you want: a door that closes properly, a fitting secured or a group of small repairs completed. Include any previous repair attempts. Where the cause is not clear, an assessment may be needed before the work can be priced.

Is my job too small to ask about?
You can enquire about an individual repair. If there are other jobs waiting, include them too so the scope and visit arrangements can be considered together.
Do I need to know exactly what is wrong?
No. Describe what you can see, when you first noticed it and how it affects the room or fitting. You do not need to diagnose the cause.
Can I add other repairs to the visit?
Mention extra jobs as early as possible. Additional work depends on the time, materials and scope agreed, so it should be discussed before the visit.
